The University of Edinburgh (UOE) is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in the world. Founded in 1583, it has been teaching for over 400 years and is a member of the Russell Group. It is found in the beautiful city of Edinburgh, in Scotland, UK.

UOE is consistently ranked amongst the world’s top 50 universities. In 2022, it was placed 16th in the 2022 QS World University Rankings. Additionally, its graduates are ranked 25th in the world by employers (QS World University Rankings).

The latest report from the Quality Assurance Agency awarded UOE the highest rating possible for the quality of the student learning experience.

Students have free access to the university’s library, which is one of the largest and most important academic libraries in the world. It houses over 1.8 million printed volumes. The library offers short-term laptop loans, and 30 open-access computer labs can also be found across key locations. 

The university also offers a free Student Counselling Service, a Student Disability Service, and childcare services.

UOE is ranked in the world’s top 20 most international universities (Times Higher Education 2020). Students from two-thirds of the world’s countries study at UOE. 

The university offers a welcome week for new students at the beginning of each semester, as well as year-round social events and information sessions. 

There are more than 320 student societies. These include a number of international and multicultural societies, which offer support in settling in to a new environment and can help you to locate students who have come from the same country as you.
